Warriors-Cavaliers: fourth act!

This post is also available in: it

It was since 1979 that both Conference finals didn’t end in competition 7.  Fighting, throbbing, it was exciting but at the end, for the fourth consecutive year, Warriors and Cavaliers will compete. On one hand, the team with the strongest NBA roaster, on the other the one with LeeBron, the extraterrestrial that so far played his best season.

And to think that both finalists, after the respective Conference 5 race were at a disadvantage of  3-2. Precisely for this reason they gave proof of strength and compactness: parity restored at home and final earned away playing respectively against Houston and Boston. The Rockets and the Celtics fought and hoped until the end, but they had to bow to the overwhelming power of the two finalists. Honor to the vanquished, but Golden State and Cleveland will play the ring for the fourth consecutive year starting this Thursday evening.

Boston held for 45 minutes in race 7 despite number 23 of the other team decided to make history once again. Jayson Tatum, with his extraordinary season, never gives up! His ID card says 1998. The games played in his career are 80, but in the long run he will surrender, he is 19, he must feel this damn pressure. No, it is not lack of character, he’s simply not mature. Cleveland is coming back and he is practically alone. He screams, goes chest to chest against LeBron without fear, loads the fans, believes in it more than anyone. He crushed in the face of his boyish idol in a race 7 that decides the pretender to the title.

But the King is the King and today is not the day he abdicates. Cleveland escapes, 40 seconds from the end Jayson does not want to do that foul but can not avoid it. It’s the sixth, he comes out among the applause of the public. A minute later, James is hugging him and whispers something to him.

He grew up watching LeBron on TV, now he collects the compliments from his idol himself. “I love everything about him, he’s built to win”number 23 says about him to the cameras.

Houston tried, but the injury in Chris Paul’s race 5 was a huge boulder. Race 6 and 7 were a copy of the other. In both races, Golden State was behind at the end of the first half, but in the second part the Warriors have accelerated and asserted the whole class of its champions outclassing the Rockets with a partial 122-63: that’s crazy !!

Durant, Thompson and of course Curry entered the autopilot. Win or go home, when the going gets tough, they play and greetings to Mike D’Antoni’s team.

Also this year, for everyone else, it will be for next year, because the last chapter of the season will still be written by them: Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers!
