The twelfth “small” edition of the most exclusive Great Smoke Cigars event that takes place in Las Vegas at the end of the year, was held this year, 2018, in West Palm Beach from February 8 to 11. Four days of events in a succession of brands more or less known even by non-professionals, who have sponsored events for real fans and cigar lovers.
The highlight event on Saturday began softly on February 8 with a party sponsored by Drew Estate at the new Smoke Inn store in West Palm Beach. Sponsor of the pre-event party on February 9th was Rocky Patel Premium Cigars at the Smoke Inn in Boyton Beach with live music, food, drinks and of course cigars. On 10 February, Nick Perdomo of the Perdomo Cigars brand presided over the VIP dinner at Ruth Chris Steakhouse with an extremely limited seating capacity.
The “main” event was set up at 9067 Southern Boulevard in West Palm Beach. 40 brands from the most exclusive and expensive Davidoff, Ashton, Oliva, Kristoff, Arturo Fuente, Padron, Drew Estate, La Flor Dominicana, Rocky Patel, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, Foundation Cigar & Co., La Aurora Cigars, Espinosa, AJ Fernandez, Nat Sherman, Matilde Cigars, Alec Bradley, Crowned Heads, Carillo, Gurkha, Recluse Oxo, Moa Ruiz Cigars, Quesada Cigars, Sindicato, JCNewman Cigars & Co., Caldwell Cigar Co., Altadis, Blanco, Casa Fernandez, Cle Cigar Company, La Palina, Foundation Cigar Co., General Cigar Company, Miami Cigar & Company, MLB Cigar Ventures, Oscar Valladores, Southern Classic Cigars, Southern Draw Cigars, Regius. With a block of 40 tickets each participant, everyone had the right to have a cigar according to the number corresponding to the brand mentioned. 40 tickets were equivalent to 40 cigars.
To ensure the proper conservation of the cigars some specially designed and customized bag saying “Great Smoke Cigars” were distributed at the entrance upon purchase of the $ 150 ticket, not little, but not too much, if we consider the average cost of a cigar.
In addition to all this, everyone was offered the opportunity to taste the cigar in combination with whiskey, bourbon and scotch, after having enjoyed American, Asian and Cuban dishes at the stands present at the fair. The main event that attracted people from all over Florida, with a clear majority of male presence followed the after party sponsored by Scott Weeks of Recluse Cigars at the Spearmint Rhino Gentlemen’s Club in West Palm Beach. To conclude the event the “Big Delicius Brunch” at the Smoke Inn of Boyton Beach; an event sponsored by Oliva and Colibrì that featured the cigar paired with Bloody Mary and Mimosa. Of course, accompanying a belgian waffle to a Bloody Mary as brunch is quite unusual for us Italians, but probably between one and the other, at the end of these four days, this is precisely “la sua morte” (“to die for”), as they say at home.
