Starting today, with the pre-convention training day, Realism Live the virtual event that this year will take the place of the highly anticipated FACE-Figurative Arts Convention and Expo, skipped due to the Covid-19 epidemic.
Realism Live, as FACE after all, was born from the desire of Eric Rhoads – founder, publisher and president of Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine- and Peter Trippi – editor-in-chief of Fine Art Connoisseur Magazine- to create an event able to bring together artists, collectors and enthusiasts who can share in a direct and engaging way the passion for artistic realism. But if FACE is an event mostly devoted to figurative art, Realism Live also contemplates landscape art, still life and floral art – for those who prefer to consider it in isolation from still life.
Realism Live offers the opportunity to learn and refine artistic techniques by coming directly into contact with the great contemporary masters. Among the participating artists of this year there will be: Odd Nerdrum, Dean Mitchell, Kathy Anderson, Juliette Aristides, Stephen Bauman, Todd Casey, Tony Curanaj, Marc Dalessio, Rose Frantzen, Daniel Gerhartz, Daniel Graves, Cornelia Hernes, Victoria Herrera, Joshua la Rock, Jeff Legg, Kathie Odom, Graydon Parrish, William A. Schneider), Daniel Sprick, Conor Walton, Jesus Emmanuel Villareal, Gabriela Gonzalez Dellosso, Jennifer Balkan, Eric Koeppel, Alia El-Bermani, Erin Meads, Patricia Watwood e Gregg Mortenson.
We at Miami Niche will be present as usual and we will offer you the opportunity to know both the events taking place day by day and to introduce you, individually, as we had already started to do in view of FACE 2020, then declined in Realism Live, the artists who will take part.
Unlike FACE, Realism Live does not provide simultaneous programs: the program will be unique for each day and the works of art created by the various artists during the event will not be for sale through the administration of Realism Live but you can contact the artist directly if you are interested in buying. It will be possible to buy both Realism Live merchandising and artistic material from the sponsors of the event by accessing the websites where special offers and discounts will be available for the participants of the event.
The days will be organized alternating demonstrations with critical sessions, discussion panels, live painting and moments of conviviality with other participants in the event with whom you can exchange opinions, tips and advice as well as start or deepen a beautiful friendship.
But let’s get to the heart of the matter and get ready for the pre-convention day. To open Realism Live there will be today a kind of day specially designed for those who approach art for the first time. During today’s sessions several artists will teach the artistic basics for beginners, among them: Erin Meads will teach the basics of drawing; Tony Curanaj the basics of oil painting; William A. Schneider the basics of figure; Victoria Herrera the basics of portrait; Jeff Legg the basics of still life and Kathie Odom the basics of landscape.
The creators of Realism Live, Eric Rhoads and Peter Trippi, in addition to reassure participants about the “doubling” of painting skills following the convention, promising the reimbursement of expenses in case of lack of satisfaction, already after the first day, suggest a few rules to follow to live the experience of Realism Live to the full lungs among these, there is one rule that cannot be missing – for those like me who have participated in the various editions of FACE – the morning initiation rite of Eric Rhoads and his energy, which alternates in a complementary way with the intimate and discursive intellectualism of Peter Trippi: “if we dance, dance with us”. Rule number one suggests that although the convention is virtual there will be a lot of positive energy from which to draw and with which to download the less happy moments due to the frustration that the epidemic has brought.
